Vehicle Description
History/Overview
Since the 1980s, the Nissan Sentra has been a fixture of Canada’s small-car marketplace. The compact car segment has diminished in size in recent years, but the Sentra remains, having been redesigned into its eighth generation in 2020.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, there’s a new Midnight Edition package available on SR trim, details of which we’ve listed below.
Available Trims
Nissan offers the Sentra in S, SV, and SR trim levels. S and SR start with a six-speed manual transmission that you can option to a continuously variable automatic (CVT) that is standard in SV trim. A 2.0L four-cylinder engine is standard across the board.
Standard Features
Sentra S comes with 16-inch steel wheels with covers, heated side mirrors, air conditioning, keyless entry, heated front seats, a 7.0-inch touchscreen, and four-speaker audio. An S Plus trim adds the CVT.
The standard safety package in S and S Plus trims comprises forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rear automatic braking, driver alertness monitor, and automatic high beams.
SV adds 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone A/C, passive keyless entry, a 7.0-inch driver info display, and six-speaker audio. An SV Special Edition package adds 17-inch wheels, a sunroof, and a spoiler.
SR brings 18-inch wheels, sport seat trim, LED headlights, and a heated steering wheel. SR Midnight Edition gets black wheels and a variety of other black exterior trim elements. SR Premium brings surround-view cameras, an auto-dimming mirror, power driver’s seat, Prima-Tex upholstery, and eight-speaker audio.
Fuel Economy
Nissan’s fuel consumption estimates for the Sentra are 9.3/6.3 L/100 km (city/highway) with the manual transmission, and 8.0/6.0 L/100 km for models with the optional CVT.
Competition
The Nissan Sentra competes for buyer dollars with the Toyota Corolla, Kia Forte, Mazda3, Subaru Impreza, Hyundai Elantra, and Honda Civic.
